Christine Ashbourne
Profile
Christine is a partner in our Family Law Group, where she practises in all areas of family law and acts on behalf of a diversity of clients. Her work ranges from drafting cohabitation agreements and marriage contracts for high-net-worth clients to litigation matters involving complex criminal, interjurisdictional, tax and other issues.
Leveraging her strong advocacy skills, Christine uses her practical and creative instincts to find the most suitable resolution for each client’s unique circumstances. She has conducted numerous mediations and arbitrations and has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal. Much of Christine’s proficiency in advocacy stems from the experience she gained during her articling year, where she was selected to be a Judicial Law Clerk to the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Southwest Region).
To complement her practice, Christine has been the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Money & Family Law since 2022. She is also the author of the family law chapter about the intersection of family law and criminal proceedings in Modern Criminal Evidence, which will soon be in its second edition.
Christine is often praised by her clients for her in-depth legal knowledge, thoughtful strategy and even-tempered demeanour. As a testament to her excellence in family law, Christine has been repeatedly recognized by prominent legal directories, including the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada.
