Hunter Forman ^*

Hunter is a partner in the Firm’s Corporate/Commercial and Mergers & Acquisitions groups. His practice is focused on advising private companies, founders, management teams, private equity sponsors, independent sponsors, and strategic acquirers on complex domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures across a broad range of industries.

Hunter is recognized in Chambers Canada for his work in corporate/commercial law.

Hunter regularly leads sophisticated private M&A transactions, including sponsor-backed acquisitions, founder and family-owned business exits, minority investments and recapitalizations. His work frequently involves navigating advanced deal dynamics, including rollover equity, earn-outs, management incentive arrangements and other bespoke transaction structures. He is known for bringing a commercial, execution-focused approach to transactions, with particular emphasis on risk allocation, deal certainty and alignment with his clients’ broader business objectives.

In addition to his transactional practice, Hunter acts as a trusted advisor to operating companies and their principals on day-to-day corporate and commercial matters. He regularly advises on corporate governance, strategic commercial relationships, internal reorganizations and ongoing business planning, and is frequently engaged as external general counsel to founder-led and sponsor-backed businesses. This role allows him to develop a deep understanding of his clients’ operations and risk profile, which informs his advice on their most significant transactions.

Hunter also acts for select participants in regulated industries, including the cannabis sector, advising licensed producers, retailers, investors and ancillary service providers.
