Torkin Manes welcomes Matt Maurer to our Litigation and Cannabis Groups

Torkin Manes is pleased to welcome Matt Maurer who has joined our firm as a partner practising in our Litigation and Cannabis Law Groups. 

Matt is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer who brings over a decade of experience to Torkin Manes. He has grown his litigation practice focusing on the real estate industry, in addition to litigating business and commercial disputes. He is frequently sought out by developers, owners, brokers, agents, property investors, landlords, commercial tenants, and contractors to advance their business interests in high stakes litigation.

Matt is Vice-Chair of our Cannabis Law Group and brings a wealth of knowledge to complement the firm’s strength in this area. Matt provides regulatory advice to a wide range of cannabis industry stakeholders, including licensed producers, producer applicants, owners of businesses that provide ancillary services to the cannabis industry, entrepreneurs with start-up aspirations, and foreign businesses who are looking to enter the Canadian market or enter into partnerships with established Canadian cannabis businesses. He has developed considerable knowledge and expertise under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations as well as the proposed Cannabis Act. Matt prides himself on staying abreast of developing cannabis related legislation at the provincial and municipal levels across the entire country which allows him to service clients throughout Canada and internationally.

Matt is a regular contributor to print and online media publications on issues pertaining to legal developments within the cannabis industry as well as corporate litigation and real estate disputes. Matt sits on the Editorial Board of the Cannabis Law Journal, and frequently publishes articles for Cannainvestor Magazine Slaw.ca and Cannabis Law TM.
