Lexology honours Torkin Manes Partner Lisa R. Lifshitz with 2026 Client Choice Award for Data in Ontario

Torkin Manes is pleased to announce that Lexology has selected Lisa R. Lifshitz for a second consecutive year as the sole recipient of the 2026 Client Choice Award in the area of Data in Ontario. 

Lisa is a trusted advisor to a diverse range of stakeholders and the founder and Chair of the firm's Technology and Privacy & Data Management Groups.

Through her privacy and data management practice, Lisa advises Canadian and international clients on compliance with Canadian privacy and cybersecurity requirements. She routinely provides advice on trans-border data transfers, inter-company privacy arrangements, breach coaching, privacy compliance in corporate transactions and negotiations, and privacy considerations in technology transactions. She also advises on Canada’s anti-spam legislation.

On the technology side, Lisa represents both vendors and users of technology, with clients ranging from the private sector to the public sector, including federal/provincial governments. She has an extensive cross-border practice, as well as considerable experience helping non-Canadian companies enter and thrive in the Canadian marketplace. She excels at negotiating large and complex technology transactions and procurements and has extensive expertise in preparing and negotiating a wide range of technology agreements, including cloud computing/managed services agreements, mobile payment/fintech agreements, and, system acquisition, development, and master services agreements. Lisa’s practice also includes advising on the acquisition of artificial intelligence products/systems.

To complement her practice, Lisa is a prolific writer and sought-after speaker on various topics related to privacy, cybersecurity and data management. She holds several leadership roles within esteemed legal organizations, and was most recently elected as Secretary of the Business Law Section (“BLS”) of the American Bar Association, a position that will ultimately transition Lisa to Chair of the BLS.
