An articling student at Torkin Manes, Arshad graduated as part of the Inaugural Class of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, where he was the recipient of the Daoust Vukovich Award in Law for high academic achievement, and of the Dale H. Lastman Leadership Award.

During his time in law school, Arshad was an active contributor to the law school community. His commitment to equity and diversity resulted in him founding two student associations for equity-seeking groups. He served as the Founding President of the Muslim Law Students’ Association, and as the Founding Vice-President of the South Asian Law Students’ Association. Further, Arshad volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, and served as a mentor for lower-year students. Arshad was also a Teaching Assistant for Business Law. Arshad’s leadership skills were recognized by being selected to be part of the Student Convocation Advisory Committee.

Prior to joining Torkin Manes, Arshad gained experience working in-house at RBC Insurance, as well as at the Muslim Legal Support Centre, a non-profit organization that promotes the fair treatment and access to justice for Muslims in Ontario through legal services, education, and advocacy. In his final year of law school, Arshad completed a placement with the Ontario government’s Ministry of the Attorney General – Treasury Board Secretariat.

Committed to giving back to the communities in which he lives and works, Arshad mentors numerous law students and is an executive member of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers’ Association – Ontario Chapter. His commitment to bettering his community resulted in him being chosen to be part of the Youth Council of two Members of Parliament in Mississauga.
