Lisa R. Lifshitz to speak at the ABA Science & Technology Law Section
Overview
Lisa R. Lifshitz, partner and chair of our Technology and Privacy & Data Management Groups will be moderating the “Cybercrime Unmasked: Defending Against the Next Wave of Ransomware Attacks” panel at the upcoming ABA Science & Technology Law Section 2026 Privacy and Emerging Technology National Institute in Washington on March 13, 2026.
Ransomware has become one of the top cyber risks a business can face in the modern digital environment, with AI-enabled attacks leading the way. Threat actors are increasingly adopting professionalized business models, offering Malware-as-a-Service (MaaS) and other data-theft technologies to a receptive audience. Remote Access Trojans found in compromised websites, malicious file downloads, and deceptive phishing emails help steal data, monitor user activity, install other malware, and access privileged files and networks. How can organizations protect themselves from these ongoing threats?
Panelists will:
- Reveal the latest tactics used by cybercriminals
- Discuss options to respond to ransomware attacks, including negotiation and meeting mandatory regulatory and legal requirements
- Discuss best practice proactive steps to prevent ransomware attacks
