Overview
Justyna Waxman and Nikita Mathew are the Program Chairs of Client and Risk Management for Family Lawyers: A Series, presented the Ontario Bar Association. The first session in the series is called "Litigating with Self-Represented Parties in Family Law" and will be held on July 9, 2025.
Family law matters often involve self-represented litigants, creating unique challenges for counsel. This sessions will provide practical guidance on maintaining professionalism, managing expectations, and navigating procedural and ethical obligations when the other party is unrepresented. Attendees will learn how to reduce conflict, protect the client’s interests, and avoid common pitfalls in these increasingly common scenarios.
